Answers:
1. What areas do you cover for aerial photography?
Our normal areas of operation include Salt Lake, Davis and Utah couties, including the Park City area. We also cover the entire state of Utah, Southern Idaho, Western Colorado, South East Wyoming, Northern Arizona and Eastern Nevada.
2. How much will it cost to get an aerial photograph of my building?
There are many things that go into the price for a custom aerial shoot. The price for something local depends on many factors including location and your requirements for the end product. Some of the variables include: How many flights the shoot requires (do you need a morning shot and an evening shot?), is it out of our normal shooting area (the wasatch front), how many finished images you order, if you need large prints, if it requires a helicopter, etc. There are different pricing structures for construction/progress jobs (a lower cost based on recurring flights), vertical photography, etc. so please give us a call for a quote or click here to use our new Site Locator.
3. What is included with a custom aerial shoot of my property?
Included with a custom aerial shoot is the following: all pre-shoot preparations (locating property, creation of flight maps, ATC approval if inside Salt Lake International airspace, etc.),shooting images while circling the property as many times as necessary and at different altitudes if needed, and digital proofs of all pictures taken. After you receive your proofs, you order only the images you need and those photographs are prepared and put on CD, DVD or sent via FTP directly to you. You pay only for the images you select!
4. Why should I use your photography instead of Google Earth?
Google is great unless you need something current, sharp or high resolution. For example, if you are planning a project and need to show all the adjacent properties and access routes, but Google only has images from 2 years ago, prior to all the construction around you and your intersection didn't even exist, then you need Photographic Solutions! If you need enlargements or files that are sharp, we can provide image resolution far beyond what is available from any of the satelite based services.
5. Now that I have my fabulous images from you, what can I do with them?
Once you have the images of you project or property from us, then the sky is the limit! Unless otherwise stated in our agreement prior to the shoot, there are almost no restrictions on the use of your images from a custom aerial or architectural shoot, only your imagination. The main restraints are that you cannot sell them to someone else, or give them to another company to use for their advertising. The same does not hold true for stock photography. All stock photography is limited to the use agreed to and signed in the contract. If you have any questions about this, please let us know.
6. What are some things I should know to help my architectural shoot go smoothly?
Depending on the nature of your architectural shoot, there are several things that can help the process go smoothly. First of all is access. It's always helpful, especially for interior shoots, to have someone who can give us access to wherever we need to go. If we have to track down a key to get into an area we need to shoot, that can slow down the process. Also, if it's an exterior shoot, we will most likely need to turn on or off lights inside the building. This is usually done after business hours, so we'll need access there as well. Other things to consider are: cars in the parking lot, messy dumpster areas, rooms and areas that might need cleaning, will there be people trying to use the room/property while we're shooting, etc.
7. Who owns the copyright on the pictures you took for me?
We retain the copyright to all of our images. However, except for stock photography and certain other situations, you have unlimited usage rights of the images. If you need exclusive rights or other arrangements, please let us know prior to the shoot.
Not at this time.
9. Can I go along with you in the plane when you shoot my project?
We do not allow clients to ride in the plane during a shoot.
10. How long after the shoot can I expect to recieve my images?
Images are usually ready within one day of the shoot. For complex architectural projects we may need an additional day to get everything ready. If prior arrangements are made and it's logistically possible, getting your images the same day is available.
11. Can I fly my own plane for an air-to-air shoot?
Air-to-air shoots require close formation flying and are inherently more dangerous than the flying most pilots do on a reqular basis. The pilot of the chase plane (the one being photographed) needs to meet our standards of safety and experience. Each pilot is vetted in the pre-shoot process, and if you meet our requirements, then yes, you can fly your plane! Often, the owner/pilot sits in the pilots seat and the approved pilot for the flight flies from the co-pilot side, making it possible for you to be in the pictures.
12. I enjoy photography and flying - can you teach me everything you know so I can be your competitor?
Absolutely! We have over 50 years of combined experience in photography and almost as much as pilots, and we are more than happy to teach you everything we've learned over the years- for an hourly rate. Figure $150 an hour, multiplied by 50 years (appoximately 250,000 hours of learning, after taking out Sundays and a few sick days) for a total of - Wow! What a deal! Seriously though, if you have any questions about our type of photography, stop by and we would be more than happy to chat for a while. We may even let a few secrets slip out if you are persistant or bring snacks. We are huge fans of delicious flavor.
